I was born into the beauty world by chance, and I continue
on by choice.
I have always had a deep passion for the beauty industry and
the ability to create looks on people to emphasize their features and make them
feel beautiful. Perhaps, the desire to create beauty comes from the long line
of stylists in my family. Being the daughter of Jon and Lori, I was always
exposed to the salon life and I grew up watching the salon become what it is
today. The salon has been around longer than I have been. As a young girl, you
would often find me and my siblings in the salon- folding towels and sweeping
hair off of the floor which was a normal part of our after school day. I spent
a good part of my childhood watching the stylists color and dress the hair-
makeup was always my favorite part to watch. I was definitely the little girl
who was always in trouble for testing out my mothers newest makeup. I took full
advantage of being the salon test dummy for all of the newest products !
I have met a lot of men and women in the salon some of those
who have known me since I was a young child. The relationships that I have
built with my guests have always been very important to me. I feel that aside
from creating looks for my guests, its important to have real connections with
them.
My favorite part about working with hair and makeup is that
I can create so many different looks for my guests. One person can look so
different depending on their hair color, cut and makeup! Being able to
accentuate the beauty of the women I work with is so powerful and inspiring to
me. I love showing my guests that they can change it up and teach them how to
work on accomplishing different looks at home. When my guests leave the salon,
I want them to feel beautiful and confident- I know that when we look good, we
feel good.
I have always dedicated a lot of time to learning, studying,
and practicing my craft. I enjoy going to classes and getting as much knowledge
and practice in as I can. I have traveled throughout the states to take many
different training programs in the last 12 years. I have been through makeup
artistry school and countless certifications and testing for both hair color,
design, and makeup. My favorite training facility is The Redken Exchange in NYC
where I have taken over 20 classes.
Education is a huge part of our salon system in general- as
the director of education in our salon. I am constantly creating education
plans and curriculums for our associates. I love teaching and working with them
so that they can grow, which will create strong and well educated stylists.
I am a full time senior stylist in the salon and I also
enjoy doing onsite hair and makeup for weddings and special occasions. I love
being a part of such a special day! When I am not working, I am spending time
with my two little boys. We love spending time outside on the boat or in the
mountains snowboarding!
